I have an 87 yr old friend. She has made me her personal rep and, under a durable power of attorney, her guardian and conservator. The problem is right now. She has begun making dubious "loans" to people who are nice to her and she seldom gets paid back. She has asked for my help but we both know that, if the mood strikes, she'll make a loan and tell me about it later. The problem is not new -- I don't want her to be taken advantage of but it is her money. She knows what she is doing at the time but is oblivious to the possibility she'll run out of money. She is a generous and proud woman.
