I am an LCSW and at a point in my 10 year social work career where I am considering a private practice in geriatrics. My problem is first, I don't have the confidence to get started, and second, understanding payment sources. Is this type of practice a fee for service paid by the recipient or family, or does medicare cover counseling and care management? A great deal of my experience has been with adult protective services, home health, and community mental health focusing on seniors. If there is anyone who can provide insight, I would be greatful.
