What About Your Future Older Age?

Dear Reader:

It is never too early to start thinking about your future. This gives you the time to consider your options, and it gives you time to change your mind about what you have planned.

Moving is a big undertaking so it really makes sense to truly consider it while you are still able to do it physically. Go through your closets and your drawers with the idea of sorting "things" that you really want and would be able to store in a much smaller area. Once you start this chore you will find that you can accomplish it. Some people would like the assistance (and reassurance) of a child, or children. For myself, I wanted to do it alone so that I could make my own decisions.

Because moving is such a big step, I did not want to simply down-size to a smaller house. Nor did I want a town house where I would have to climb stairs. My answer was to consider moving to an apartment. From that consideration I looked into moving to a retirement community, and that seemed to be the answer for me.

I did not have to make a hasty decision so I was able to think about all the pros and cons. At first I was concerned about how I would fit into that style of living because I like to "do my own thing". I enjoy being with people but I also enjoy my privacy. Talking with friends helps you to come to terms with what is available and gives you a broader picture for speculation.

For your sake, don't postpone this kind of thinking. Do it now!
